Fences

It seems that in all the larger Dutch cities there are building works going on turning the respective centres in a cheerless mess. But in Utrecht they brightened up the wooden fences with the architects visions of how it is going to be. Much nicer than the graffiti you usually get in such places I think.

I really should have spotted this before the sundays stills challenge about fences.

bicycle parking

Like I said in my last blog, there are just too many bicycles in the city. So parking your bike can be a problem similar to that of parking your car. For instance in this picture most of the bicycles have a yellow cover over their sadel. Probably because this is a parkingspace for bicycles-with-yellow-plastic-covered-sadels only.

Or here I suppose people want their bicycles to be out of the way. Or may be this is bicylce-art. I don’t know really.

So many bicycles

I made a special catagory for bicycles because they are so prominently present in the streets of all dutch cities there is no getting around them, somtimes literally. Especially around bus- and trainstations there are such enormous herds of bicycles that it seems almost impossible to find your own vehicle back. Just imagine that you have had a few beers that have affected your memory a bit and you want to cycle home. Nightmares! I have seen people searching there crying of frustration.
